Farewell Opal

Weeeeellllll now,

last night was my last working in the club and in true 'Bex Life' fashion, nothing went smoothly.

All was going well, I arrived at 8:30 it was quiet, served a few customers, had a quick conflab with a girl who was down from Glasgow and then.....

Tried to see where Glasswasher was broken
Change gas on soft drinks
Break - 10 mins in...
Flood
Glasswasher totalled

Washing Glasses
Unclog sink - kitchen flood
mopped up

out to serve for a bit
Back to Kitchen - Steve washing
Drain leaked - flood
mopped up

Organise cellar with Steve
moving barrels
Grolsh barrel makes firm contact with right foot (the one that needs another Op!)
shock
cry
scare Steve
10mins of ice on foot

Finish organinsing cellar
Glass washing
Sharon falls asleep in cellar
Out to bar
Fight by bar, woman on floor

Mopped up bar flood
Serve drinks
Rude customers
2am - close
20p in tips
Glass washing
Finish

Go to get Jacket - Book, drink and Snickers where I left them on my break!

So yeah, I guess you could deduce that I'm glad to be going. On the other hand, I've met some great people, had a lot of fun, learned how to make cocktails and practically learned how to manage a bar - funky :)

Modelling for Wive's Group was a good laugh, got to wear a lot of clothes I wouldn't usually, and purchased a 'fat face' top, a Wallis Skirt and a pair of flared jeans so some more stuff to pack!

Went round to see Brett, Clare and Abi yesterday afternoon and took some lovely photo's - some to stick on my wall at camp I think:)

I believe I've now sussed it so that if you click on a photo it links to a big version - if you're interested! :) (You should be 'cos she's cute and deserves o be looked st :))

Spring is about

*Plane Ticket Book

*Toby's present has gone down well (I made him a book called "Moffy's Busy Day" - he loves my car (a Morris Minor) and as 'm going away I made him a book aout her :))

*May have to have another small Op when I'm back from the States, my right foot has too much bone under the scar and is causing problems so the surgeon wants to remove the screw head, the bit of offending bone and the scar (not sure how that works but hey!)
All good Fun :)

* Caught sight of the rapidly growing tadpole's in the pond, and a frog popped up to say 'hi' whilst I crouched for a relaxing 20 minutes watching them. It's amazing, you can see their tiny froggy eyes and every so often they put their mouths up to breathe :)

Photo-mania : pt II

Well, this morning I got a letter from the folks at 'picture.com' telling me the photo I submitted (blogged about here) has been entered into the finals etc etc. Also got a form asking me if I wanted a copy of the album (have to pay extra to have my details included!). Now they seem pretty kosher, but I've decided not to pre-order a copy of the book - I'll see if it gets published and then buy one I think. Not too bothered either way - although it's pretty cool that it got picked (even if there are 3000 other finalists!)

Wesley is a distant memory...

If you click here you can see ther front cover of Wil Wheaton's new book - the one that I'm so excited about!!!!! And dang, if he isn't a handsome guy ;)

Also my copy of 'Pasty Faces' arrived in the post this morning. It's a film I was an extra in during my firat year at Uni. I'm literally on for about 10secs - I just caught the back of me (in a long shot) in the 'Yellow Bird Cafe' window - whilsat a guy in a chicken suit gets beaten up outside! But still - there I was! How funky........? :S

Last night of the play!

The curtains up.....

Ah yes, All the preperation is over and the show openes last night to a small but appreciative house. The only cock-up was me forgetting a phone cue *blush* and only a couple of prompts were needed.

Monday was a bit of a nightmare. I was in the theatre for 13 hours. The Lighting plot went OK. But when we started the tech Mike and Pete wanted to change all my Gold cross light because they preferred the green blue I had put in for the beginning of the scenes *grrr* so then I had to replot as we were going along without being able to see the stage. Then they complained about not being able to see the faces in the ghost scenes and explained that I had no fronmt light to give them as it ws all being used in different colours and because they had taken out the cross light there was only the down light.

I got pretty upset (although they only heard me being terse - I went outside to my car to burst into tears and get it out if my system!)but battled through and then Mike and Pete were on a guilt trip for the next 2 days(took me out to lunch and everything!).I did get my own way on some of it, like the cross light is back in only blue-green, but a lot of it is heavily compromised which sucks a tad. Still, it was a good learning experience :)

Here are some pics...I've been trying to use the "hello" programme suggested by Blogger, but it's doesn't relly do waht I need - I have to find a way of making these pic's bigger on here without using the large versions on msn (which are too big) - one day I'll get there!

Changing Barrels

The last 3 nights at the club have ben sooo busy. Thursday was a special R'n'B night and there was only me and Anne on and it was heaving! The music was good though. Friday and Saturday we had enough people but the punters were being abnoxious (mainly men in the 30-40 bracket) and who seem not realise that the ruder they are the less likely it is that they are going to get served!

By being rude I mean, Whistling at us, waving money/their hands in our faces, SHouting or even singing "Why are we waiting". One guy was actualy trying to get this woman (whom he didn't know) to order his drinks and she couldn't concentrate to tell me her order; so, I put on my best "back off" voice and told him in a firm but calm manner to "SHUT UPPPPPPPPP!" and he did. It seems that they have lost their manners and so this qwould be the best way to communicate!

I did however manage to teach Penny how to change a barrel, and Anne Marie's little brother how to serve a drink, and where everything was on the till (and then he b******d off without any warning - very wierd!!) I had to do the stock check aswell and do the order for the drinks next week - all good stuff!

Put the set up at the theatre this morning, went to wathc AAOS in the afternoon and saw some more familiar faces, and off to group in a bit. What a gorgeous day weather wise! Shame I was inside for most of it!

Bewitched is back baby, yeah!

wOOt, YEYEYEYEYEYEY!!!!!!

They're bringing out 'Bewitched' on DVD next year! :)))))))

I'm a hardened fan of this show, my fan-hood reached it's peak during my 1st year at Uni, where everyone knew that if I was late it was because 'Bewitched' ran over!

I'm so psyched, it means I can replace my videod episodes (which is nearly all of them!) with some shiny new disc versions!!

The DVD's are coming out to coincide with the release of a new film version starring Nicole Kidman, should be interesting to see. I wonder at which stage in the 'Bewitched' time line it will be.........?

Man, I'm trippin'!

YEYEYEYEYYEYEYEYEYEY!!!

My Retina;s haven't got any worse, wOOt! I don't ahve o go back for check ups now. Just have to keep an eye out ('scuse the pun) for signs of retinal detatchment - but that won't be for quite a while now, hopefully!

WHen I arrived at the hospital this afternoon I was so engroseed in reading the parking tarriffs that I drove over the pavement barrier guiding you towards the entrance gate and ticket machine's, and probably gave Moffy's suspension the shock of it's life!

Got into the clinic and they put eye drops in which dilate my pupils. I had this last time so I sort of knew what to expect (except last time othey only worked properly in one eye!). Was told to go for a wander, so I duly did so, got meself a hpt chocolate and pottered to the Fracture Cliic to check my appointment there about my toes in two weeks. On the way back I bumped into Mrs. Shearn (Headmaster's Wife) and we had a chat. It was at this point that the drops really kicked in and the world starting moving just a tad slower than me and I entered that realm where only a certain illegal drug can take you :))))))

ANyhoo....... went back the guy looked at my retina's and said that all is as well as could be, and away I went. Unfortunately this did involve driving home - which I admit is not the smartest thing I've ever done.....You wouldn't believe how bright a grey sky and road markings become when you're pupil's are the size of saucers!

This was taken without flash, and about 1 1/2 hrs after the drops kicked in - they were bigger!

ta dah......

Well, finally!

I know it's been an age since I last wrote, but as you can see blogger has changed a bit and some of the new designs they have really took my fancy so I've been playing around with a few and this is the result (until I get bored!) I hope you like it!

I'm FAMOUS....

Well for about 1 minute last Sunday morning! (3:30am-ish) I was....... I texted in to Radio 2 - Sybil Ruscoe's show - on me way home from work, as I was listening. Mentioned I was driving home from work and have to get up in the morning to do the get-in at the Palace (voluntarily I might add!)and she mentioned it - HOW COOL IS THAT - I was highly excited :S

Had a difficult week last week really. Just feeling low generally at the beginning of the week. Rehearsal made me feel awful on Monday. Too many emotions flying around and people taking their irritation out on me didn't help. Brett and Clare were fab though
when I appeared on their doorstep at about 11pm! Rehearsals were better on Wednesday. Had managed to make the fake spliffis, toffee tin and the flower photo's so everyone was feeling a little less stressed.

The lunar eclipse was cool on Tuesday. Went out on Wedneday to take some photo's of the still slightly red - but always awesome moon:

The show is on next week, so I'm busy rushing around doing final things. For example trying to locate a 1950's breast pump! Adam eventually found one but it was entertaining looking! I spent today at the Belgrade Theatre recording the sound effects for AAOS "singing in the rain" which is also on next week! I managed to get hold of a sound editing programme while I was there and a promise of a copy of all the sound effects Steve has (mainly so I don't go pestering him again!) Look at me, the ultimate sound woman! wOOt :)

Eye day at the hospital tomorrow.......

Precious Vision

as I have been surfing on this Bank Holiday afternoon the weather (and subsequently my mood!) has been changing rapidly - that is the sun keeps going in and out - most frustrating!

I have just set up a new email account that blogger members have a chance to test (from Google) and have bee scouting round blog directories seeing if I can add this site to them - yes I am officially that bored. I stayed uo 'til 2 this morning doind the sound and LX scripts for TMOW so now I have nothing left to do for this evening - it's a wierd feeling!

At the this week I've been learning chinese from Anne - one of the chinese staff (oddly!) I can now count to ten (and have nearly mastered writing it down) and wriet my name - Rebbecca - in chinese. How cool is that - it's flippin' complicated - you have to draw the characters in the correct order. So prioritising up->down, left->right. Have learned some basic greetings aswell but am not too good at them!

I have my appointment to see the Opthoptist about my eyes - it's on the 13th of May. I have to admit to being nervous about it.

I have a disease called "lattice degeneration of the retina" in both eyes. It is hereditary - although none of my family have the disease - as far as we know. I was diagnosed with it when I was 18........you're not supposed to get it until you're 60+, so I am in a 'bit' of a minority! It means that weak patches are forming on the backs of my eyes which may enventualy lead to retinal detatchment and blindness.

They can reattach the retina's, but my vision will not be as good as it was. As I am VERY short-sighted (myopic)(I can't even tell that the big letter at the top of the eye test board is even there!) AND have astigmatism the fact that my vision will be even WORSE if they have to reattatch them hardly fills me with glee. At least I'll still be able to see colour and stuff, I do realise how lucky this makes me.

So basically, this check-up is to see how/if the disease is progressing, and if so how quickly so they know what I can expect and how careful I have to be.

I try not to think about it too much as, quite frankly, it scares me. So any prayers, mojo or even passing thoughts on the 13th will be much appreciated :)
