Whip lash and Irony

Good Grief you breathe for a bit and then all hell breaks loose (especially in the Drama department of a school not far away from here)

Ben has been in hospital for the last week and a half. The night after the first Lunchbox theatre show he was taken in...then chucked out...then rushed back in by ambulance. Then they kept him in for a week whilst seemingly doing nothing. Then he keeled over, they rushed him into theatre at 1:30am and it turn out he had an abscess on his appendix that had burst and was leaking.
Gee folks, who would have thought that severe abdominal pains requiring morphine that last a week could even possibly have something to do with your appendix....not them apparently - which explains why they didn't even do an ultrasound the entire time he was there!!!! So basically he is pretty ill and is being taken back to Devon to recuperate, for at least 6 weeks.

Kate's car's engine died and basically the entire thing had to be replaced.

And I was driving into work yesterday (Sunday) morning when a lad driving the opposite way down a one track road, not apparently knowing the speed limit, made very firm contact between my car and his - he manged to go up a bank and onto my bonnet before bouncing off. All a bit scary, especially for him when his Mum showed up and was incredibly nice to me (driving me to school so I had people around and making sure I told someone) whilst clearly dying to get back and give him what for :) I stayed at Kate's last night and woke up this morning after a very fitful sleep - fitful because every time I close my eyes I see the car coming at me - with a very stiff and painful neck/shoulders/back.
So went to A&E (first patient of the morning apparently! - In and out in an hour!) and was given some joyous Co-codomal (ah, memories from my feet operation!) and told I had whip-lash. Everyone at school was very nice and the girls were offering to carry stuff etc all day which is nice. Still feeling a bit woozy and weird but I guess I will for a bit.

oh...and the irony....

The insurance peeps have been utterly amazing (Zurich through AA) and arranged my car towing, a hire car and got the medical peeps to ring all on a Sunday. The Hire car arrived today.....and there it was....A brand new Fiat Punto....exactly the model and year that hit me.

Gotta laugh, ain't ya?

spaced doesn't come close....

Just when you thought it was safe to come out of the stress zone.....

you drive over a concrete hump at Hobbycraft and seriously displease you exhaust pipe. Which then decides to fall in half on the way to school, up a one way track, on possibly the coldest morning of the year so far...still, give life credit, I did have a nice view!

Website is up and running - check it out at www.whiteboardtheatre.co.uk, php took a while but got there in the end (with a little help from Tim...OK a LOT of help from Tim!). Everyone is suitably impressed so hopefully now we can get this shindig underway.

Yesterday I went out with the 10 Tors group (now down to 9) whilst they did a 25k walk. I didn't have to do quite that much, but still it was a shock to the system. Did quite well though and the weather was perfect...if a little chilly. Got to try out my Platypus water thing (one of those with a tube that comes out of your rucksack - fabulous. Now I just need a decent rucksack that doesn't keep opening because you have to have a gap fo the the to go through!

Tomorrow is the first "Lunchbox Theatre" Performance. 4 half hour plays in 4 lunchtimes and a showing of all 4 tomorrow night. SHould be good. Has encouraged soem more onto the P.S.T and they're all really earger and reliable which is great :)

Boiler Update

Oh yeah,

The men came on Thursday to have a look at the boiler again. Thought they'd fixed it and decided to do a service - and then actually discovered the problem....still at least they got there. The pilot is now alight but may not stay that way as it needs a new bit (no idea when that's coming) so may still be without hot water - for now though...bring on the shower!

The day of second takes

Today was 'Out of the Box' day at school. I decided that for my 'OOTB' thing I would go in dressed smartly and straighten my hair. Made for quite an entertaining day, hehe! Nobody recognised me the first time they saw me - everyone had to look either harder or about 5 times, very funny :)

I have nearly finished the website - it's uploaded to the server but the log-in part isn't working - fun weekend of .php coding ahead of me - whoop :S I realy need to do some exercise as well though!!!

There's a meeting on Monday night for the parents of Y10 interested in coming to Peru. I was fairly excited when I discovered another Y11 application form somehow hidden in my scale drawings of the Hall so I now have 10 confimred, then I watched the Ben Fogle programme about dream expeditions this evening and now I am very psyched :) I need 2 more but can take another 6....hmmmmm

Came home this evening and worked through the bass guitar parts for swing band..or was it wind band, I lose track. Might actually be able to manage it - kind of funky but it hurts the wrist - have to ask my sister if that's normal or if I'm playing it wrong!
