Bex and Moffy's trip to France

Well, we made it - and with no trouble on Moffy's part whatsoever!! (my driving skills after 6 hours were sorely tested at one point, when coming off a roundabout and not being able to work out which side of the road I was supposed to be on - despite the arrow I have helpfully LX taped on my dashboard.)

Ferry crossing was fine - felt odd to be on a ship again - I read the safety instructions and found my muster point, just like old times :)

It started raining just as I picked Vicky up from the station and then got steadily heavier as we found the campsite and put the tent up. So we shoved as much stuff as we could fit on the plastic inside the tent and escaped to E'Leclerc - to buy more plastic :) So am now sat in a cafe/coffe house/bar/restaurant which Vicky tells me is the hang out of Couriers in the area, and trying to dry off.

Have had fun watching the French react to my car - I always love seeing how people respond to her when I'm not in her, it's cool that Morris Minors make people smile - for whatever reason!

Am v. tired and it has stopped rqining so hopefully heading back to the tent for some hot chocolate, a film and some oh so welcome sleep....zzzz

P.S There'd better be some sun tomorrow or someone's going to have some serious explaining to do!!!!!

House sitting, House moving, House hopping

Ha ha, a week into the holidays and I finally get chance to update!

First the MOST IMPORTANT news - I have Moffy back!!! Yey!!!!!!! She is shiny (especially the 4 new wings! and working fine. Am taking it nice and easy this week though because....

I'm hopefully visiting Vicky in France next week - have booked the Ferry and thought I had booked the campsite - although apparently they don't check their booking system, because I rang today and they had no knowledge of my booking - and no spaces!! So am franctically trying to find somewhere else to stay - how hard can that be at the beginning of the school holidays on Brittany......?!?!

Having a gorgeous time house sitting for the Deputy head - so far no roses have died and no cats have snuck in so all is well. Have moved into gatehouse with the assistance of a couple of lovely members of staff. I say moved -my stuff is there in boxes - particularly helpful when I needed to find my first aid it the other day (delayed allergic reaction to either bleach or gloves I was wearing to clean) and took me half an hour to locate the Clarityn - obviously not a violent reaction but the skin on my face and hands would not agree! It's a reminder of how bad my eczema used to get, nice :)

And what of the quiet village I left behind? Well on the day of moving the freezer - in fact whilst I was putting it in the van this happened just round the corner - I only heard the shouting, but scary!

Am having a slighty stressful time at the mo with a couple of things which probably aren't going to resolve themselves very easily, which sucks because I could really do with some chill time and a break. Hopefully something can be sorted but who knows.

I am sad also this week because [drum roll please..] Rosie and Frazer (Natalie Saleeba & Ben Lawson) left Neighbours. Yes, I appreciate in the grand scheme of my TV life that this is no 'Kate dying in Heartbeat' moment but still; I will always hold a special place in my memories for some strong acting, a fine piece of chemistry-casting and at least one couple on TV today who "waited 'til the wedding" :)

9 days to go

Wow, 9 days and I will have completed my first crazy, eye opening, fun, challenging, nutty, inspiring first year at RHSB!

At the moment I am smack bang in the middle of the Junior School's production of 'Blast Off!'. With a fabulous rocket built by the amazing Tom the caretaker and lots of LED's and smoke machine ducting it looks amazing and the girls are doing a great job. It's all good fun and it's been interesting working down there and getting to know people better.

Next week is 'Activities Week' at school. The girls are off timetable for 3 days and can chose to do a variety of things. We are doing a production of 'Redeeming Lizzie Reeve' (written by the headmaster!) which involves students, ex-students and even 5 members of staff (including me!) I have 5 girls doing costume design, 2 ASM's (who are shadowing me DSMing) and 1 doing LX design. It's been the first time I've really got to design stuff - JGB wanted the whole production in Black & White - to look like an old photo. Certainly going to be interesting, it's a melodrama and everyone is having a high old time over-acting!

Am officially moving to the gatehouse over the summer. However the flat will not be as such because they will be building.......THE THEATRE!!!!! Yey! We got planning permission. I've been involved with a couple of meetings so far and the plans look really good. It will be brilliant for the girls and also a highly versatile space which is just what we need there! So I will have a couple of rooms to make myself at home in and hopefully something will can be sorted out later in the year.
