Ha ha! I got a part in the next Wythall Theatre Company play - I am sooo pshyched!!!! My Dad texted me to tell me while we were at the movies with the kids yesterday evening (spiderman:2 - pretty cool!) and today I got the email telling me what play it is - "Shut up and think of England" is the play - I'm playing a 'high-class tart' called Stella. I've been jumping around all day I'm so excited!
Oh, and even better - my Dad is Fed Exing me my script - ta da!!!!!
Oh this sessions show is "Starting here, Starting Now", a review show to be done in the Playhouse theatre - even better - the writer and original director are coming up to work with the cast!

Hell hath landed!
Well, as in the words for a song in West Side go "the Spit hit the Fan" yesterday with a well aimed 'thwack'
Morning rehearsal was a real battle - the kids wouldn't concentrate - Larry wasn't around, we were trying to do the scene changes (which are very complicated and done in near blackness to music!) and everything that has been annoying me for the last 3 days was getting about 10 times worse! I could feel the irritation building up inside and eventually I just screamed at them:
"does this require talking ..... I think not...so SHUT UP"
I could have added some expletives (and I'm sure many director's/SM's would) but it works better if you don't. It had the desired effect, except for on those few hardcore kids who just won't pay attention no matter what - it's cool though - the rest of the cast take care of them!
Then just before our dress the MD (Musical Director) collapsed in the dining hall with a suspected heart attack and so was whisked to hospital - the director went with him. So we were a bit thrown, the kids were upset and we had a different MD for the afternoon - and let me just point out - this is NOT an easy show to play - even Zeke (our MD) would cry every time he turned the page in the mambo or the quintet! Erich stepped in though (his nickname is weird Erich, 'nuff said) and geez, can that man play the piano. He'd done the show a while ago but still - it was AMAZING!
Oh, and I have to fire the gun at the end (it's a bloody loud starter's pistol!) - I swear the entire auditorium could hear me heart beating! I have to load it and unload it and keep it with me at all times!
AND.. it is Rachel's (one of my girl's) birthday tomorrow so normally she would have pizza/Chinese for tea, but because her parents will be here./ there's shows on, she can't have dinner with her room. So we did it yesterday. I didn't really have time to organise it though - I came out the theatre, complete with gun, after the show and was told my pizza was here. I then had to run round and find the girl's as they had no clue it was coming!
It never rains but it pours!
AB has their show over the weekend, at home. It's kind of strange not being there for it. But hopefully the little work I did for it at the beginning helped!

A: Hell Week Q: This time is known as.....

I'm shattered. Tonight was the last night we could go out until next Wednesday as this is performance weekend and the new kids arrive on Monday - how fast does this summer really have to go!?!?!?! SO I had a drink and a coupla games of darts. Got in, got half way up the stairs and remembered I hadn't done my rehearsal report or signed in so I came careering down to do both and fortuitously the computer was also free so I htough I would post as I haven't in a while!
It was sneek peek tonight so all the cast got to see a 3/5 minute bit/ hash together of each other's shows. They're looking really funky. Zeke (Musical Director) had a 'moment' during our's - somehting about turning 3 pages instead of one) so the Quintet in West Side Story changed key, went a bit wobbly and then carried on! The kids were fine though. It's been going pretty well, we've had a kid called Thomas (from Guatemala of all places!) who needs a good kick in the rear and who's had more early curfews for lateness than probably anyone in the history of Stagedoor, but the cast generally have been great (if very talkative). Got some photo's to post but can't do it just now. Dress Rehearsal is tommorow evening, everything's looking good :)
I've read 5 books since I've been here. I've just read no.1 in the "A Time to..." ST:TNG series 'A Time to Be Born'. I bought numbers 1 + 2 off amazon (highly exciting to receive a box at camp!)'cos I had seen 4+5 around but couldn't find 1. Now various trekkies on camp are borrowing it. Finished it in 3 days - good read, especially for anyone who loves the characyters - great to see Wesley getting back in - some solid character work even if the dialogue is a tad unbelievable at times.
Anyhoo, no time for book reviews I must go to bed before I flop onto the keyboard!

'West Side'
Just a quickie, the lovely Cindy has let me use the office computer for 10 minutes - the other one is down again :(
I've got my show - I'm doing 'West Side Story' in the Elsie theatre - which is the newest thetare on camp. I'm pretty chuffed as the two shows in there are generally fought over so I hope I can live up to expectations! The Director is Larry, great guy, camp as Christmas but very strict (and occasionally severe) in rehearsals. His comment about TPTB putiing me with him was...
"They've put us together because I'm the meanest and your the nicest"
... so going by that judgement it's going to be interesting!
Kids arrive in 3 days so it's full steam on decorating etc. I've been sat in meetings for the last 2 days - nice relief from carrying chest's of drawers around!

I ::heart:: Mr Jinks
Well, hellooo there.
Yes I realise it has been an inordinately long time since my last entry but with the combination of work and there being no internet access up here until today - on this mighty slllooowwww computer- I've not been able to tap.
Well, I'm here, safely. Toes are Ok-ish. Being on them all day isn't really agreeing with them but everyone's being realy cool about me not carrying heavy things - I've suddenly found I'm very aware of anything within a 1m radius of any foot ;)
There's ssoo much stuff I could write about but it's 2am and I have to be up bright and early, so here's a quick rundown:
* Plane was cool, goody bag fun - have added headphones this year - yey Virgin! (Although the ice lollies were to cold - some how attatched my lips to one.... don't laugh... it bled when I pulled it off :(
* Have been mostly cleaning bathrooms, vacuming, gardening and shifting furniture
* Coincidental People: Lauren - year below me at Uni
Jane - ASM/DSM on the Twit's (from The Belgrade)
Stella - worked in Red Lane at The Belgrdae doing Props (also on Twit's)
Tess - Office Chick - from Wellington, New Zealand. AS is Bex, Jo's Housemate.
* Have had 2 days off: a) went to Six Flags - theme park, like Alton Towers only, well....Better
Was in the car with Chris, Cindi, Tess and Millie laughed so hard I cried
on several occasions :)
b)Yesterday - went to a local lake (Lake Superior - not the big one) had a
BBQ, including corn cooked in the husks and Strawberry's with marshmallows!
Played Ball - various types - Frisbee and taking of silly photographs!
* Have taken to playing cricket with various folks of different nations, in the cabaret lobby. One of the tech staff actually cut us out a cricket bat today (we had been using a length of 3"x1"!) Much Darts playing and pool have been enjoyed at the ever wonderful 'Bummy and Kel's' Lakeside Tavern :)
The rest of the staff arrive on Wednesday so we're just doing the finishing touches. SHould know what show I'm working on by Saturday - and maybe they'll have this computer working to a speed where I can upload some pictures for your viewing pleasure! Will poast again soon hopefully.....
Oh, and by the way, Mr Jinks is the spray cleaner we've been using on everything - I'm pretty sure we've inhaled enough to keep us going for quite some time!

Come fly with me...
Well, this may possibly be my last post before reaching the good old USofA so I thought I would take this chance to say byyyeeeeeee, and here's to an entertaining summer!

last night was my last working in the club
and in true 'Bex Life' fashion, nothing went smoothly.
All was going well, I arrived at 8:30 it was quiet, served a few customers, had a quick conflab with a girl who was down from Glasgow and then.....

So yeah, I guess you could deduce that I'm glad to be going. On the other hand, I've met some great people, had a lot of fun, learned how to make cocktails and practically learned how to manage a bar - funky :)
Modelling for Wive's Group was a good laugh, got to wear a lot of clothes I wouldn't usually, and purchased a 'fat face' top, a Wallis Skirt and a pair of flared jeans so some more stuff to pack!
Went round to see Brett, Clare and Abi yesterday afternoon and took some lovely photo's - some to stick on my wall at camp I think:)
I believe I've now sussed it so that if you click on a photo it links to a big version - if you're interested! :) (You should be 'cos she's cute and deserves o be looked st :))

Spring is about
*Plane Ticket Book
*Toby's present has gone down well (I made him a book called "Moffy's Busy Day" - he loves my car (a Morris Minor) and as 'm going away I made him a book aout her :))
*May have to have another small Op when I'm back from the States, my right foot has too much bone under the scar and is causing problems so the surgeon wants to remove the screw head, the bit of offending bone and the scar (not sure how that works but hey!)
All good Fun :)
* Caught sight of the rapidly growing tadpole's in the pond, and a frog popped up to say 'hi' whilst I crouched for a relaxing 20 minutes watching them. It's amazing, you can see their tiny froggy eyes and every so often they put their mouths up to breathe :)

Photo-mania : pt II
Well, this morning I got a letter from the folks at 'picture.com' telling me the photo I submitted (blogged about here) has been entered into the finals etc etc. Also got a form asking me if I wanted a copy of the album (have to pay extra to have my details included!). Now they seem pretty kosher, but I've decided not to pre-order a copy of the book - I'll see if it gets published and then buy one I think. Not too bothered either way - although it's pretty cool that it got picked (even if there are 3000 other finalists!)
