Whip lash and Irony

Good Grief you breathe for a bit and then all hell breaks loose (especially in the Drama department of a school not far away from here)

Ben has been in hospital for the last week and a half. The night after the first Lunchbox theatre show he was taken in...then chucked out...then rushed back in by ambulance. Then they kept him in for a week whilst seemingly doing nothing. Then he keeled over, they rushed him into theatre at 1:30am and it turn out he had an abscess on his appendix that had burst and was leaking.
Gee folks, who would have thought that severe abdominal pains requiring morphine that last a week could even possibly have something to do with your appendix....not them apparently - which explains why they didn't even do an ultrasound the entire time he was there!!!! So basically he is pretty ill and is being taken back to Devon to recuperate, for at least 6 weeks.

Kate's car's engine died and basically the entire thing had to be replaced.

And I was driving into work yesterday (Sunday) morning when a lad driving the opposite way down a one track road, not apparently knowing the speed limit, made very firm contact between my car and his - he manged to go up a bank and onto my bonnet before bouncing off. All a bit scary, especially for him when his Mum showed up and was incredibly nice to me (driving me to school so I had people around and making sure I told someone) whilst clearly dying to get back and give him what for :) I stayed at Kate's last night and woke up this morning after a very fitful sleep - fitful because every time I close my eyes I see the car coming at me - with a very stiff and painful neck/shoulders/back.
So went to A&E (first patient of the morning apparently! - In and out in an hour!) and was given some joyous Co-codomal (ah, memories from my feet operation!) and told I had whip-lash. Everyone at school was very nice and the girls were offering to carry stuff etc all day which is nice. Still feeling a bit woozy and weird but I guess I will for a bit.

oh...and the irony....

The insurance peeps have been utterly amazing (Zurich through AA) and arranged my car towing, a hire car and got the medical peeps to ring all on a Sunday. The Hire car arrived today.....and there it was....A brand new Fiat Punto....exactly the model and year that hit me.

Gotta laugh, ain't ya?
